"Ballet is a lesson in life"

"Ballet is a lesson in life"

First-year students of the educational program "Education in the field of choreography" of the Ivanovo State University took part in a master class of the world ballet star, ex-premier of the Royal Ballet in London, director of the Sevastopol Opera and Ballet Theater Sergei Polunin.

The master class was held on the stage of the Ivanovo Musical Theatre.

Answering journalists' questions, Sergei Polunin noted that the most precious and brightest thing in life is when you can teach and give knowledge. “When you see children, students, dancers who want to absorb something, get it, it’s an inexpressible feeling that you can give, and a person is ready to accept it <...> I look at how I can help at this very moment, because we are only 45 minutes - an hour for a lesson, and as quickly as possible we need to give them something and just understand what they, in general, may need. Because ”ballet is a lesson in life.”

After the master class, the students watched the ballet Rasputin, in which Sergei Polunin performed the main part. The ballet to the music of Kirill Richter was staged by the Japanese choreographer Yuka Oishi. The authors tried to show one of the most controversial figures in Russian history as a person who combined both negative and positive traits.

We thank the Department of Culture of the Ivanovo Region for organizing the master class, for attending the ballet "Rasputin" – Ivanovo Concert and the Ivanovo public organization supporting the creativity of children and youth "Atlant"!
