If we are united, we are invincible!

If we are united, we are invincible!

On October 31, on the eve of National Unity Day, an event dedicated to understanding the historical foundations of this modern state holiday, celebrated annually since 2005, was held at the Boiling Point – IvSU.

The organizers were the Center for Russian Studies and International Education and the Department of Russian History at IvSU. This event is one of the stages in the implementation of the patriotic historical-cultural / historical-literary Project called "Heroes of Russia", initiated by associate professors Ibragim I.A. and Chugunova T.V. This time the project brought together students from different areas of training, representatives of different countries and peoples. The competitive aspect of the event was supported by division into teams. In particular, the Sagittarius team included Russian-speaking first-year students (Economics and Sociology majors), foreign students (Musketeers team) were their classmates, as well as students of the Management and Human Resources majors.

The program of the event included three rounds. In the first of them, participants presented their homework in the form of pre-prepared clips dedicated to the Russian holiday – National Unity Day, as well as national holidays of similar themes in Vietnam, Guinea-Bissau and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The second round was held in the format of a historical duel on the theme of the Time of Troubles in the history of Russia, the liberation of Moscow from foreign invaders, the heroic deed of the leaders of the Second People's Militia K. Minin and D. Pozharsky. As part of the third round, the participants had to answer video questions from historians, associate professors of the Department of Russian History E.L. Kostyleva and A.V. Stepanov, as well as to the photo questions presented to each team by the organizers.

The competitive nature of the historical quiz did not prevent students of different nationalities from finding a common language, being friendly and understanding towards each other. Each of those present felt their involvement in an important historical event, the spirit of that era and the motto "We are together!" Together in peacetime – and, if necessary, in difficult times.
