Liquid crystals and "smart" nanomaterials

On April 25–26, 2023, the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Liquid Crystals and “Smart” Nanomaterials” (IX Chistyakov Readings) was held at IvSU in conjunction with the XVIII All-Russian Scientific Conference of Young Scientists. The conferences were held within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Festival of IvSU "Research Activities in the Classical University", dedicated to the 50th anniversary of IvSU.

The participants of this scientific forum represented 28 scientific and educational institutions of Ivanov, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Saratov, Kazan, Korolev, Chernogolovka and others.

Vice-rector of IvSU I.N. Smirnova delivered a welcoming speech. The first plenary report of the director of RIN IvSU prof. Usoltseva N.V. was dedicated to the contribution of Professor Chistyakov I.G. in the development of the doctrine of liquid crystals. The second plenary report was presented by Ph.D. Sciences D.N. Chausov (Moscow). He reflected the results of studies carried out by his scientific group together with representatives of the RIN IvSU on the effect of the functionalization of carbon nanostructures on the mesomorphism and dielectric properties of dispersions of carbon nanostructures in a cholesteric liquid crystal. The third planar report was made by Nikitin K.S. and was devoted to Langmuir technologies as a way to obtain a functional nanomaterial.

During two working days, 25 section reports were made, 25 poster and 16 correspondence reports were presented. All presentations were accompanied by questions, discussions and comments. This was largely due to the fact that all meetings of both conferences were held jointly: the presence of experienced scientists helped young researchers receive valuable recommendations both for optimizing scientific research and for improving the form of their presentation.

66 abstracts of reports are submitted for publication.

All participants of the conference received certificates, and 15 participants who presented the best oral and poster presentations, according to the results of discussion at the meeting of the org. Committee were awarded Diplomas of the Rector of IvSU A.A. Malygin.
