IvSU students returned from an eventful and impressive trip to Yeditepe University

A group of our students was at Yeditepe University (Istanbul, Republic of Turkey). They studied the basics of Turkish legislation, compared the legal systems of the two states, and learned about the culture, history, and traditions of the Republic of Turkey.

Skotnikova (3rd year, Jurisprudence) shares her impressions:

“We will long remember Istanbul Yeditepe University not only for its warm welcome, but also for its very rich and relevant academic program.

In addition to the features of international legal regulation of information technology within the framework of the Summer School of Law, we also listened to a number of lectures on the features of Turkish criminal law and on the international regulation of the protection of personal data of patients in medical institutions. Particular attention was paid to the legal regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in various areas of public life: from targeting sales on marketplaces to the use of AI in law enforcement. Of course, these classes turned out to be not only interesting for us from the point of view of getting to know the law of another state, but also extremely timely, since international law, especially in the field of modern technologies, sets trends for the legislation of individual countries.

We were also pleased to talk about the peculiarities of the Russian legal system, about how our legislator solves certain problems of regulating public life. We could not help but be pleased with how highly our Turkish colleagues appreciated the level of development and legal regulation of information technology in Russia, as well as the standards and requirements set by our state for production in this area.

The cultural program of our second week in Yeditepe was also memorable. On Saturday, July 29, we visited one of the brightest places of attraction for tourists: Istiklal Street, which stretches two kilometers to Takshim Square with an endless series of boutiques, restaurants and small shops with Turkish sweets. The next day, our group, led by Professor of the Faculty of Law Dr. Barıs Erman, went on a ferry tour along the Bosphorus Strait. Passing through the main ports of Istanbul, we had the opportunity to observe the architecture of both the Asian and European shores of the city: the palaces of the sultans, mosques, fashionable residential areas. Two hours later we arrived in the small fishing town of Anadolu Gavagi , where the ruins of the Yoros fortress have an incredible observation deck, which offers views of the southern and northern sides of the strait.

All members of our student group come to the conclusion that this trip is one of the most unforgettable events of our student life. We express our deep gratitude to Yeditepe University for the warm welcome and hope to continue the fruitful cooperation of our universities!"
