Development of Russian-Vietnamese relations

Development of Russian-Vietnamese relations

On October 20, in Moscow, the Association of the Russian-Vietnamese Friendship Society, with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, held an International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Role of People's Diplomacy in the Development of Russian-Vietnamese Relations".

The purpose of the conference is to generalize and share the experience of the people's diplomacy of Russia and Vietnam, to expand and deepen ties between fraternal peoples in the modern world.

The conference was held in a mixed format: with face-to-face attendance and online. The remote communication was not only for the members of the Russian branches of the Society, but also for the leadership of the Vietnamese-Russian Friendship Society from Vietnam (Hanoi and Haiphong), for the representatives of diplomatic services and for the Union of Vietnam Societies. Heads of Rossotrudnichestvo, representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and cultural institutions, as well as a number of public organizations attended the face-to-face conference.

It should be noted that this representative forum was held as part of the events of the cross years of Russia in Vietnam and Vietnam in Russia (2019–2020), first announced by the governments of Russia and Vietnam.

The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by the Chairman of the Central Board of the Russian-Vietnamese Friendship Society prof. V.P. Buyanov (Moscow), First Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam-Russian Friendship Society Chinh Quoc Khanh (Hanoi), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Russia Ngo Duc Manh, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Friendship Societies Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga and a number of other officials. Three Round Tables and a number of business meetings were held along with two plenary sessions.

The report "Ideological and strategic goals in training specialists for Vietnam (the experience of the Ivanovo region)" was made by the Acting Rector of IvSU A.A. Malygin in collaboration with the Chairman of the Ivanovo branch of the Association of the Russian-Vietnamese Friendship Society, director of the Research Institute of IvSU prof. N.V. Usoltseva.

The importance of training foreign specialists, both from an economic point of view, and for the ideological creation of “soft power” – friendly interpersonal relations between representatives of different countries, which organizations of different kind are trying to destroy – was emphasized. Difficulties in recruiting applicants and training specialists for Vietnam were identified, and ways to overcome them were proposed.

The exchange of views, proposals and estimations voiced at the conference will definitely serve the further effective development of friendly relations between our countries.
